This is a revisit of an old MySpace Blog.
Another birthday is coming up on Sunday. I am doing an unusual thing in listing things that have happened since my last birthday and look forward to next 2/22/2010.
I will never say a job is forever. I had the best job I have had for a while only to be laid off after 4 years. I have another job now, but I am still looking for that “dream” job – Update: I am back now working for the Bank one year after the layoff.
I now believe in second opinions. My dog Sadie pulled up hopping on one of her back legs. Her vet said it was her knee and wanted to do surgery. I took her to another vet with an orthopedic specialty. That vet diagnosed her having an achilles tendon strain. Her leg was splinted for several months and she has fully recovered.
My belief in God was validated in an amazing way. My daughter was diagnosed with a blood clot and AVM in her brain (see previous Christmas miracle posts). After two brain surgeries, she has fully recovered.
Never take an “unsolicited” friend request for granted. I was fortunate to receive a friend request from an amazing person. I find this persons blogs amazing and they gave me the inspiration to create this blog entry.
Do something you enjoy. I have created a website to take my hobby of going to haunted houses in October and present those reviews to everyone. It is a continual “work in progress”, but I find it relaxing to work on it.
Read more. I have found a need to distract myself from the days of the bad economy. I have started reading again and will wear out my library card before my next birthday. Update: I am now reading eBooks from the library.
Save more. I will be able to put more money away for retirement and plan to do so. I can no longer believe the quarterly social security notices that social security will be there when I retire. Update: I am now contributing 9% (5% and 4% matching) into my 401K.
Have fun. I am trying to look more at funny things and doing more things that are fun. I am having a renewed interest in the arts. I hope to visit art museums from several states before my next birthday.
Thank those who deserve it. I thank my parents for raising me how they did. I thank Shane and Laurie for getting me out to see Shane’s band and Karaoke. I thank Lanie for her support during my unemployment slump and just for being her . I thank my kids for being the loves of my life and for all their goofiness and support.
It is now a little more than 12 hours before I was born back in 1964. I look forward to doing the same blog next 2/22.
